San Antonio Chamber launches Association Health Plan with SWBC
(San Antonio, TX) – The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and SWBC Employee Benefits Consulting Group (EBCG) will offer the Texas Association Health Plan to Chamber members. This plan offering is possible due to new rules issued by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL).
“High premiums and few insurance coverage options have been the norm for small businesses and puts them at a disadvantage,” said Chamber President and CEO Richard Perez. “Through the Texas Association Health Plan, small businesses can band together to obtain quality, affordable health coverage for their employees. We see this as a great benefit for these members that are the backbone of our economy and employ a majority of our city’s population.”
The Texas Association Health Plan provided by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is a health insurance solution for small businesses from UnitedHealthcare aimed at helping control or reduce costs and improve their bottom line. Benefits of the Texas Association Health Plan include:
- Availability to small business members (2-50 employees);
- Access to 30 medical plans in the product portfolio along with non-medical benefits such as dental, vision, and life insurance;
- Savings of as much as 5-15 percent, depending on company and employee demographics; and
- A full range of medical benefits available under this plan.
“Under this new rule, small businesses will now have the healthcare insurance buying power and flexibility of a large business,” said Linda Hummel, CEO of SWBC EBCG. “We collaborated with the Chamber to create a portfolio of plans that will enable small business members to provide access to affordable, quality health care coverage.”
The Chamber is targeting an effective coverage date for the new Association Health Plan for January 1. Employer groups can purchase these plans though any licensed agent that is a member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
