SWBC Mortgage Launches AI Mortgage Assistant “Ask Cheri”

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 14, 2026)—SWBC Mortgage Corporation, a full-service mortgage lender, announced the launch of Ask Cheri, a generative AI–powered internal assistant designed to help their mortgage professionals navigate loan programs, homebuyer eligibility requirements, and complex underwriting scenarios more efficiently.

Ask Cheri centralizes thousands of pages of SWBC Mortgage and investor guidelines into a single, searchable digital experience, eliminating time‑consuming manual research while improving speed, accuracy, and consistency across lending teams. The tool supports loan officers, processors, and operations professionals by delivering reliable, guideline‑based insights at key points in the loan process.

“Attracting and retaining top mortgage talent means equipping our teams with smart, modern tools,” said Susan Stewart, CEO of SWBC Mortgage. “Ask Cheri identifies the best possible options for each homebuyer, driving stronger sales outcomes and happier customers.”

Users can quickly search all program guidelines, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA selling guides, as well as investor guidelines, including Jumbo, Non‑QM, and Housing Agency/Bond programs. By reducing friction in daily workflows, this helps teams evaluate loan scenarios and improve turnaround times, all while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

“Every response is anchored by direct citations to the exact guideline source, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and trust in a highly regulated environment,” said Paul Gorske, Chief Technology Officer of SWBC Mortgage and creator of Ask Cheri. “The system asks clarifying questions, presents options, and adapts based on prior interactions, while remaining fully within SWBC’s security and compliance controls.”

The launch reflects the division's ongoing investment in mortgage technology, digital innovation, and operational efficiency, reinforcing its position as a forward‑thinking employer focused on improving both the employee and customer experience.
