SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 29, 2026)—The SWBC Foundation has announced a $100,000 donation to the American Cancer Society’s Healthcare Ministries Hope Lodge San Antonio, helping fund the Community Pantry for patients and caregivers navigating cancer treatment.

Currently under construction in San Antonio’s Medical Center, the Hope Lodge will serve as a vital resource for families facing the challenges of cancer care. Scheduled for completion in late 2026 or early 2027, the three-story, 40,000-square-foot facility will provide up to 14,600 nights of free lodging annually, saving patients and caregivers an estimated $2 million per year in lodging costs alone.

“This donation reflects our commitment to strengthening the communities we serve,” said Charlie Amato, Chairman and Co-founder of SWBC. “The Hope Lodge will be a sanctuary for those battling cancer, and we’re honored to help provide the essentials that make a difference every single day.”

Impact at a Glance:

  • There are 31 Hope Lodges across the country. Currently, Texas has 3 Hope Lodges, and San Antonio will soon become the 4th, filling an essential need for cancer patients throughout South Texas.
  • The facility will feature 40 private suites, 2 fully equipped kitchens, a community pantry, library, movie theater, fitness center, spiritual reflection room, outdoor walking paths, and inviting common areas to promote connection and support.
  • Guests will also receive free transportation to cancer treatment centers throughout San Antonio.

“At SWBC, we believe in standing with families during life’s most challenging moments,” said Gary Dudley, President and Co-founder of SWBC. “Supporting the Community Pantry at Hope Lodge ensures patients and caregivers have one less worry as they focus on healing.”

The American Cancer Society broke ground on the Hope Lodge in March 2025, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to care and comfort for cancer patients in the region. This Hope Lodge will be the 32nd across the U.S.

At SWBC, we believe that strong communities thrive on support and compassion. That's why we invest in resources to lighten the load for families during their treatment journey. We’re dedicated to making a lasting difference because caring for our city truly matters to us.
