SWBC Donates New Vehicle to Meals on Wheels San Antonio

Meals on Wheels San Antonio is a cause close to SWBC’s heart.

“One of the organizations that we love to support is Meals on Wheels. Our employees deliver meals for them, and we’ve had a long-standing relationship with them. We love what they do for the fragile senior population in our community and so we’re just really pleased to be part of this.”

Recently, the SWBC Foundation donated a brand-new vehicle to Meals on Wheels San Antonio. This donation will help Meals on Wheels continue its mission of delivering hot, nutritious meals to those in need.

“This van will be going to approximately 50 pick-up points across San Antonio and Bexar County to deliver the meals to the pick-up points for the volunteers to take them to the homes, so it will be out and about in the community for sure. Lots of people are going to be seeing this van with this beautiful SWBC logo on it right here with meals on wheels.”

One of those destinations is the SWBC Tower. SWBC employees have been delivering meals during their lunch breaks since 2012.

“It means a lot to me. It’s so rewarding. The people that you deliver to just want to talk for a little bit because they’re alone and I can’t say enough but it’s just priceless. It’s just meaningful to me.”

And, over the next six to eight years, this new vehicle will cover thousands of miles as it delivers almost a quarter of a million nutritious meals to older and disabled neighbors in the San Antonio area.
